From the small “Fara San Martino Factory”, which started out as a simple mill, to a “world Factory”: De Cecco took on this great challenge and won. A goal achieved thanks to the ability to keep the great traditions of a family company alive without ever giving up on your dreams and the determination to push
boundaries. Since 1886, the De Cecco family has guaranteed continuity by handing down their knowledge from father to son and placing great importance on every product. Their active participation in company life and a special dedication to their employees has made the factory into one big family. De Cecco has always kept an eye on the times and responded swiftly to all national and international needs, making its homeland proud. Abruzzo, where the heart of production is still based, saw the birth of De Cecco, saw it grow and now watches it bring excellent pasta to tables all over the world.
But in the future even further away destinations await and De Cecco must focus on the horizon. That is why De Cecco is integrated its offer with new lines of products. In 1986 the Olive Oil Company was founded, and would soon be followed by lines of rice, potato gnocchi, tomato products and sauces, balsamic vinegar of Modena, flours, organic products and bread substitutes: in short, everything you need for a good Italian meal.
Before Colavita USA became one of the best-selling Extra Virgin Olive Oils in America, Colavita was a small family business on the opposite side of the ocean. A long time ago in the quaint hilltop village of Sant'Elia a Pianisi, located in the Molise region of Italy, two small family businesses were born. One family operated a stone mill for crushing homegrown olives used to produce fine extra virgin olive oil. The other family gathered the durum wheat harvest, milled the wheat into semolina grain and ultimately produced fresh pasta for the local market. Over time, both families became experts at their trade, passing their knowledge to the next generation, who in turn did the same. The two families had much in common not only in perfecting time-honored production methods, but also in name. They were both Colavita families.
Today, the Colavita Olive Oil and Colavita Pasta companies are still family-owned and operating in the same town of their ancestors. They have since joined with another family-owned company, Colavita USA, and together they have shared the fruits of their respective crafts with American consumers for over twenty years.
