SANBS is a non-profit organisation which provides an essential service within South Africa and is rated amongst the best in the world in the provision of blood and blood products, as well as in relation to the research and training provided. SANBS operates across all of South Africa, with the exclusion of the Western Cape. SANBS is further regarded as a major role player in the provision of support to countries in the SADC region. Research is an integral part of SANBS core business and underpins the excellence for which SANBS strives. Our key purpose is to save patients’ lives. Mission: The mission of the South African National Blood Service is to provide trusted blood products and services to all patients at a world class level of cost and quality while innovating new treatments to enhance human healthcare.

Health Systems Trust (HST) is a dynamic not-for-profit organisation (NPO) established in 1992 to support the transformation of the health system in a new democratic South Africa. Subscribing to a primary health care approach, HST actively supports current and future development of a comprehensive health system, through strategies designed to promote equity and efficiency in health and health care delivery in southern Africa.
