Situational Awareness Matters is a consulting and training organization that focuses in improving high-risk decision making. The greatest demand for our services comes from companies, agencies and associations whose employees work in high-risk, high-consequence, time-compressed environments with changing conditions. Many of the organizations that hire us have experienced significant near-miss events or tragic catastrophic events and their subsequent efforts to improve worker awareness, vigilance and safety have not produced the desired outcomes. Our approach is non-traditional. We teach employees, supervisors and safety managers how to develop situational awareness and how to use awareness and the foundation to improve decision making. Our methods are rooted in cognitive neuroscience and the research conducted by our company founder, Dr. Richard B. Gasaway, a first responder with 30+ years experience making high-risk decisions. His doctoral research and his subsequent research have been chronicled in his 6 books and have been featured and referenced in more than 400 publications.
