SageTea Software Information

The Eclipse SageTea Runtime is an open source application runtime for building AI-powered software for edge computing, sovereign computing, and intelligent automation. Originally developed by SageTea Software in 2012, the project combines more than a decade of runtime architecture with modern Pharo Smalltalk development under the Eclipse Foundation. Our goal is to provide developers with an open, extensible platform for building secure applications that run locally—on servers, desktops, embedded systems, and mobile devices. The Eclipse SageTea Runtime includes a modern development environment, runtime libraries, AI integration, enterprise connectivity, and tools for building intelligent applications without being locked into proprietary cloud platforms or token-based pricing models. We believe organizations should have the freedom to deploy AI where it makes the most sense: in their own data centers, on edge devices, or directly on end-user hardware while maintaining ownership of their data and infrastructure. The project welcomes contributions from developers, researchers, universities, and commercial organizations. XTC Mobile is a commercial adopter of the Eclipse SageTea Runtime, using the platform to develop LynX Phone, XFoneOS, and SageTea Office AI.
