Founded in 2005, Safe Ports is both an award-winning U.S. federal contractor and a thriving commercial business. Under the leadership of president and CEO Lucy Duncan, Safe Ports excels in logistics, inland port development, port security; disaster relief training and preparedness, and geospatial services. The company operates globally, with an emphasis on emerging markets or countries in transition. Safe Ports has successfully run logistical operations for the US Department of Defense in the continental United States and some of the globe’s most challenging locations, from Afghanistan and Iraq to Guam and the Philippines. A significant portion of Safe Ports’ work in these far-flung places has consisted of managing operations for the US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). While operational successes serve as a key company pillar, Safe Ports is also a driven enterprise with a vision – to identify special places around the world ideally suited to be developed as intermodal hubs, purposed to provide secure, modern logistics options. The company looks for sites based on crucial infrastructure and utility availability, availability of energy, proximity to highways, potential with rail and air service, and most importantly, market demand. A prime demonstration of that vision came in November 2017, when plans for Safe Ports’ most ambitious project to date were unveiled in Amman, Jordan. In an exclusive partnership with the Mafraq Development Corporation (MDC) and the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF), the company was awarded responsibility for the promotion, development and operation of a unique regional logistics hub: Safe Ports Regional Gateway. Sitting at the nexus of a highway network linking Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Syria and connected by road to the Port of Aqaba (Jordan) and the Mediterranean via the Port of Haifa (Israel), Safe Ports Regional Gateway will be developed in phases beginning in 2018.
