Sabona Information

Sabona is a Norwegian aid organisation established in 2001, with projects aimed at local communities in Zimbabwe. The name “Sabona” means “I see you” in the Ndebele language, and reflects our core philosophy: to see and acknowledge each individual. At the heart of our work is the principle of helping people help themselves. The projects include education, healthcare, school meals, clean water, and local business development – all with the goal of giving people the tools they need to build a sustainable future. A good example is the school lunch program, which ensures that children receive a daily meal, thereby improving health, learning, and school attendance. In 2025, we also launched a solar-powered water well providing clean water to 1.800 people, whilst strengthening collaboration through volunteer work and local initiatives. With strong Norwegian commitment, local roots in Zimbabwe, and a focus on lasting solutions, we demonstrate how small initiatives can create a big difference. We are a non-political NGO.
