Sabana Grande Productions Information

Sabana Grande Productions LLC is a film and video production company founded by Alexandra Hidalgo in 2013. Our films have been official selections for dozens film festivals around the world and won multiple festival awards, they have been screened at universities across the US, and taught in a variety of college courses. Our video essays have appeared in premiere peer-reviewed journals such as Kairos, Enculturation, and The Public Philosophy Journal. Our activist videos have been featured on NPR, IndieWire, and MSU Today. The company’s goal is to produce independent documentaries, video essays, and videos that tackle topics from social justice and feminist perspectives. Some of the topics explored by Sabana Grande projects are immigration, bilingualism, motherhood, breastfeeding, and feminist approaches to filmmaking and social media. Sabana Grande projects are made through feminist filmmaking, so that everyone’s contribution is valued and crew members mentor and support each other. We are committed to hiring women and people of color to work on our projects. Our production and postproduction crews range from Venezuelan film industry professionals living in and outside their homeland to students and faculty at Michigan State University. Their creativity, talent, and unique perspectives result in cutting edge, activist projects that provide a deeper sense of the topics explored in each piece.
