Hi Im Ryan. Welcome to my blog. I am a technology entrepreneur and investor. I led a company called iContact as co-founder and CEO from 2003-2012 until it was acquired in February 2012 by Vocus (Nasdaq: VOCS) for $170m. In May 2012, I co-founded a new software start-up called Connect and run an investment fund called Hive Ventures , focused on investing in companies solving major human challenges. I am the Chairman of Hive , a global community of leaders working on creating a better world. I wrote a book on entrepreneurship called Zero to One Million (McGraw-Hill, 2008), was the Chairman of Nourish.org , and was the founder of Virante . Im also a member of the United Nations Foundation Global Entrepreneur Council . I also wrote an online book called The Startup Guide . Im passionate about using business and technology as tools to make a positive difference in the world. I worked with the U.S. State Department teaching entrepreneurship in Cairo after the Egyptian Revolution of 2011 and worked on the 2012 Obama Presidential Campaign as National Co-Chair of Tech for Obama. I believe that you can achieve anything to which you set your mind. I believe in spending the time necessary to define how you wish to use your one life to change the world. And I believe in working with dedication, passion, focus and immense energy to move mountains and create the world that you see. I live to help others to reach their full potential and create positive change in the world. I hope to see a world one day in every human being has access to basic human needs and there is no extreme poverty. I see a world of abundant clean energy and global innovation ahead that is more secure and prosperous for all of us. I grew up in Bradenton, Florida as the son of an Episcopal Priest from Pennsylvania and a social worker from Yorkshire, England.
