Ruvari is many things. At its simplest, Ruvari is a sustainable business that celebrates the magic that is a lab-grown diamond. Ruvari is also a question that we pose to you: when it is possible to revel in the wonder of a stone through ethical, cost-effective methods, why do it any other way? At its heart, though, Ruvari is one South Indian woman’s quest to build a bridge between her past and her present. Born into a jeweler family in rural Karnataka, Geetha – the artist behind this adventure – has walked many diverse roads throughout her life. Now, after decades of climbing the rugged rungs of Bengaluru’s corporate ladders alongside negotiating the joys and labours of single motherhood, she finds herself looking back at her early years, and at the wisdom she inherited from the jeweler-community that surrounded her then. Ruvari is a place where all the best parts of the South Indian culture that Geetha grew up in meet her current standpoint as an independent urban businesswoman.
