The Sheriff's Office has a proud history and provides a high level of service for the communities it serves. The agency is responsible for patrolling over 810 sq. miles, which includes 26 municipalities within its jurisdiction. The population is approximately 71,000. Located within Portage County are the City of Stevens Point and the Village of Plover, both of which have separate Law Enforcement agencies. The Department consists of 49 sworn personnel, 30 Corrections Officers, 19 Communications Officers and 6 Administrative Staff.
