Rushnu has developed a modular thermochemical process that converts waste heat and carbon emissions into valuable chlorine-based chemicals and carbonated minerals. These chemicals serve a wide range of applications, including wastewater treatment, steel, mining, and semiconductors. Because our units enable on-site chemical production, we decrease cost of chlorine by 60%, eliminate supply chain risk and the hazards of shipping dangerous chemicals, all while decreasing the carbon footprint of a site dramatically. We are currently building our first commercial demonstration (80 T/y) backed by an NSF SBIR Phase II grant at Silicon Valley Clean Water in California. At wastewater treatment sites, we convert biogas and salt into a purified stream of methane, bleach, and a carbonated mineral. We are also building our first pilot at a steel facility in Indiana. For steel sites, we capture carbon emissions from flue gas and produce hydrochloric acid. We are just getting started.
