Marathon Kids is a nonprofit organization, headquartered in Austin, TX, that is dedicated to improving the health of children by providing them with the motivation, tools and support to live happier, healthier lifestyles. Marathon Kids started out with the simple mission to introduce children to the joy of running, but it has evolved into an evidence-based running/walking program for elementary school kids in the United States. We’ve stood up to rigorous tests to prove that our program mitigates the negative health effects of a sedentary lifestyle and ardently pushes for access around the country. The vast majority of kids don’t get the 60 minutes of physical activity they need each day. Marathon Kids running program has proven effective—even transformational—for millions of kids, families, organizations and schools.

The Medavie Blue Nose Marathon began with a dream – that Halifax, Nova Scotia should have its own annual marathon. Realizing that there were many races around the world, we came up with a unique idea. Our marathon would be part of a weekend of events promoting and celebrating healthy living and active lifestyles. As well, we would encourage everyone in our community and beyond to get involved as a volunteer, sponsor, spectator, or participant, be it as a runner, walker, or Nordic walker. Now more than 19 years later, the Blue Nose Marathon continues to be the signature event of the Organization occurring on Victoria weekend each year. There is a Blue Nose Marathon Expo presented by Subaru that span two days with over 50 booths to explore. More than 80 local charities raise more than half a million dollars annually through the Giv'er Charity Challenge. More than 1,400 dedicated volunteers support the Blue Nose annually, ensuring a safe, lively and fun experience for all participants. The Blue Nose Marathon also manages and develops other events including the Valley Harvest Marathon (thanksgiving weekend), The Night Owl, Not Since Moses and Beat Beethoven that align with its mission. A community-minded organization, Blue Nose has developed environmental stewardship programs that reduce waste, increase recycling, and encourage alternative transportation. Efforts that have earned us Evergreen certification from the Council for Responsible Sport, their highest level of recognition for sustainable and responsible events
