RTF® Water Saver Canada introduces an exciting new grass seed product for the Canadian marketplace that will be available at several retail locations this spring. RTF® Water Saver Grass Seed is a proprietary product that offers the virtues consumers demand for a more eco-responsible and low maintenance grass seed. Rhizomatous Tall- Fescue (RTF®) is an advanced Tall-Fescue seed variety that produces rhizomes. A rhizome is a creeping stem or runner that extends outward from the main plant underground. The rhizome will send a shoot up to the soil surface while extending new roots downward, forming a new plant. In short, this rhizomatous fibrous root system is a self-repairing turf that fills bare spots and provides a dense, lush, attractive thick lawn in 8-10 weeks / germinates in 8-12 days. RTF® Water Saver’s strong, deep root system also results in a plant that thrives with less water, less fertilizer and has a high drought tolerance. RTF® Water Saver also has a resistance to pests that common infest lawns, from chinch bug to grubs. This occurs from a symbotic relationship between endophyte fungus in grass seed and the host plant. The endophyte secrets alkaloids that are undesirable for insects and grubs without any negative effects to the grass.
