RCCD is offering seed sales through Pawnee Buttes Seed Inc. out of Greeley, CO. We chose to work with Pawnee Buttes because of their commitment to weed-free mixes, great customer service, and competitive pricing. We currently have the following mixes available: Low-Grow Native Mix: The Pawnee Buttes Low Grow Native Mix is adapted for reclamation/restoration in the medium to cooler mountain climates. The sites are generally good soils, higher precipitation, and often north facing slopes. The elevation ranges from 6,000 to over 9,000 feet. The average annual precipitation is 15 to 24 inches and most of the moisture falls as snow in the winter. This mix contains cools season grasses adapted to a wide range of hills and mountain conditions and is recommended for low growing cover. Use the low grow native mix as a low maintenance turf in Rocky Mountains. Dry Native Mountain Mix: The Native Mountain Mix is adapted to a wide range of mountain conditions and is useful for restoration, forage and wildlife. It is also adapted for reclamation of roads, trails, pipelines and home-sites. The sites are generally good soils, higher precipitation, and often north facing slope. The elevation ranges from 6,000 to over 10,000 feet. The average annual precipitation is 20 to 30 inches and most of the moisture falls as snow in the winter. Much of the area is forested with pine trees. However, there are many open areas that support grasses and shrub vegetation. Bell Forest Service Mix: This is a mix suitable for reforesting areas that have been logged or sprayed for weeds.
