My business journey began in 1996 while working as a chef. After the birth of my first son, I wanted more time with my young family—ideally doing something connected to my passion for food. This led me to start a manufacturing company, formulating and introducing innovative products to major brands and supermarket chains. After a few challenging years (and a few more kids), the business had grown to a team of 75 with $10 million in turnover. In 2013, a major setback struck when $5 million worth of products went unpaid by a large pharmaceutical company. During this difficult period, my focus began shifting toward Purewellness—a brand I had quietly started in 2006 as a hobby, inspired by my love for food and health. Jason & Abby By 2016, I moved away from exclusively manufacturing for large supermarket chains and nutritional brands, opening retail stores to connect directly with our customers. The brand gained presence in all major retail channels—until COVID-19 forced our stores to close. Refusing to give up, in 2021 I relaunched Purewellness online, offering wholesale and retail superfoods, vitamins, and botanical extracts sourced globally at the best possible prices. Today, with a dedicated team of 16, we continue to grow and serve customers across Australia. I’m deeply grateful to the Australian community for supporting us through every stage of this journey and for helping us become one of the nation’s leading suppliers in our field. As a child, I was intuitive and connected with a compassion for animals and humans that at times scarred my sensitive being. Walking a numerology path of a Master Number 11 there have been challenges and many levels of deep growth as I have learned to surrender and heal from pain, inflicted by others, or created from my own choices. I truly learnt deep understanding of how unresolved emotion, mental & emotional stress presents as dis-ease and imbalance in the body. Learning modalities that help me to treat in a holistic way was very important to me, to reach people that may not yet be aware of the interconnection of the mind, body and spirit. Sometimes we need to speak, but mostly we need to feel. When we are in pain we do just about anything to avoid feeling. We numb with alcohol, drugs, food, cutting or we may create control mechanisms within which we feel some level of safety, although these strategies are never usually supportive of our health & wellbeing. We may focus on others to help, rescue and fix them whilst denying our own needs… avoiding our own needs. We may operate from patterns of blame whilst not being able to have self responsibility or take accountability for what we do or say, or how we treat others. It takes courage to heal. Being supported in a nurturing and non-judgemental space is my wish for you while you traverse your healing journey back to your true self. Releasing conditions, silencing the inner critic and judge and freeing yourself from belief constraints that impoverish your self esteem and self worth. Thrive Wellness provides confidential, professional, client-focused, evidence-based psychological, exercise and clinical nutrition services to individuals and families aimed at optimising mental health and wellbeing. We work with clients of all ages and provide services for a broad range of issues. Individual consultations and group therapy programs can be provided in-rooms or via telehealth (online video or phone).
