Roger Federer Information

The Roger Federer Foundation was established in December 2003. Aside from promoting sports for young people the main goal of the Foundation is the support of impecunious children. Since May 2004 the Roger Federer Foundation has got involved with young people in South Africa. The commitment is expression of the partnership with IMBEWU. This non governmental South Africa-Swiss organisation campaigns the improvement of the living conditions of adolescents in the townships near Port Elizabeth. Roger Federer Foundation: Lynette Federer Mobile: +41 76 517 20 18 E-mail: management@rogerfederer.com IMBEWU Community Volunteers The seed of IMBEWU Community Volunteers (IMBEWU means "seed" in Xhosa, the local language) was planted in February 2001. It was created out of nothing, or rather out of friendship between young Swiss and South Africans who had a common vision: to bring a small but valuable contribution towards poverty alleviation, social upliftment and empowerment within the most deprived township communities of the Nelson Mandela Bay. IMBEWU™s projects mainly focus on supporting and giving opportunities to disadvantaged children and youth through educational, health awareness, sport and cultural initiatives. It is a small but very active non governmental organization, run in the townships by people of the townships. The organization™s offices are situated in the New Brighton Township and the South African management team is currently composed of 5 persons.
