RMB Capital Partners specialises in buy and build partnerships with the owners and managers of private businesses. We understand the challenges and complexities that come with a growing business, such as balancing the need for more capital with personal financial risk, family and management dynamics, as well as private ownership structures. Many of RMBCP’s most successful partnerships have involved an investment in a strong business followed by a series of smaller acquisitions that are integrated into the “parent” business. This growth strategy is sometimes known as Buy and Build. RMB Capital Partners is independently owned by its Managing Directors. Established in 1998, RMB Capital Partners has made over 20 investments totalling $350M alongside its partners. These 20 investees have in turn completed over 80 add-on acquisitions as part of buy and build strategies developed with RMB. The backing of a major balance sheet allows us to take the flexible approach which has been evident in many of our investments. RMBCP is able to be flexible on timeframe; we have held investments for a little as twelve months and as long as nine years. We can adopt a wide range of investment structures, including minority ownership stakes. We take a conservative attitude towards debt and generally avoid highly geared businesses.
