Costuming - RYT provides costumes for all cast members by thrift storing or renting them. We ask that cast members provide their own shoes, undergarments and make-up for performances. Ticket Sales - Our theatre requires a cast member to sell 15 tickets for each musical they are participating in. We also encourage and promote ticket sales through a contest. This is a new requirement for our 15th season. Parent Volunteers - We ask parents to volunteer "behind-the-scenes" on committees and provide a gift basket/donate a gift card/request donations from local businesses for our raffle fund raisers. Quality Educational Experience - Our overriding goal is for each student to receive a quality theatre experience after participating in our classes or productions. Students will learn to improve their skills, apply their own make-up, build and paint sets. Training - Teens serve on the production team for some musicals which develop and improve their leadership skills. Who can get involved?Riverside Youth Theatre's regular programs are geared for youth from 1st grade to 21 years. There are musicals geared for our Elementary Division (1st-6th grades) and our Teen Division (7th grade-20 years). Some musicals (i.e. Joseph...Dreamcoat, Fiddler on the Roof, The Wizard of Oz) include all age groups. There is no experience required to audition or participate in a RYT musical. Many students learn through participation. We do not cast preschoolers in our productions, but offer a Preschool class with no recitals or performances. Occasionally we WILL cast mature preschoolers who we've met through participating in our Preschool class. How do we get involved? The Parent / Student Information Meeting is the recommended first place to attend. We answer most common questions new families have. You get an idea of our expectations for cast members and parents, plus the time commitments involved. See the RYT Calendar page for the next meeting scheduled. Audition hints and expectations are detailed on the Artistic Director's Page. Riverside Youth Theatre is an audition-based theatre company and we DO NOT have a waiting list. You are NOT required to participate in our classes to audition, but taking classes does help you improve in your acting, dance and singing skills. Why do you charge a registration fee to participate in classes and musicals? This a business and we have expenses to pay in order for the business to continue operating. Your registration fees plus ticket sales cover the varied expenses for musicals, including rehearsal and theatre rent, liability insurance, musical licensing fees, sets, costumes, props, printing, batteries and more. Riverside Youth Theatre has the most reasonable registration fees of any local community youth theatres. How do I become a part of the e-mailing list?Sign-up for Riverside Youth Theatre's e-mailing list and be notified 3-4 weeks in advance about upcoming auditions, seminars, registration days for classes, productions and civic events of interest. Send an e-mail to Debbie Wolgemuth, Artistic Director at RiversideYouthTheatre@msn.com to join the e-mailing list.
