Riverdog Information

Our mission is to unleash a new capacity for learning and communication between each dog and owner that strengthens the bonds of commitment and understanding between themselves, their families, and their community. Founded in 1996, weve trained and cared for thousands of dogs and even more people - in the greater Seattle and Eastside areas. Our practical, unique curriculum is based on the concepts of positive rewards, gentle yet firm consequences, and clear communication not only with dogs, but also with their owners as well. You do not need to have a PhD or have been raised by wolves to understand how to have a 'good dog.' What you do need is to become successful at these 5 simple things: MOTIVATING your pet to learn, LEADING the relationship, COMMUNICATING what you want, RESPONDING to your pet's behavior choices (correct or not), and MANAGING your pet in both your presence and absence. These are the things we are passionate about helping you learn, master, and enjoy. Riverdog Canine Coaching is located in the city of Issaquah, about 30 minutes from Seattle by car (with or without your head hanging out the window). We have over 14,000 square feet of custom designed space in three separate buildings on the west end of Gilman Blvd, including a large indoor play area, two large fenced outdoor exercise yards, two fully padded classroom training floors and a professional bathing station. We work with the Issaquah School District to provide employment for disadvantaged individuals, we provide several free training C.A.M.P.s per year through our Apprentice Program, and give free training seminars to veterinary staff to promote safety in the workplace. We have hosted periodic adoption events, volunteered at shelters and zoos, done therapy work with our dogs at Lakeside School of Autism, Bellewood and Spiritwood retirement centers. We also sponsor an annual food and equipment drive for Three Rivers Rescue and raise money each year for the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife Karelian Bear Dog Teams of Washington State.
