The Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE) Programme is a global research endeavour that seeks to understand how education systems in developing countries can overcome the learning crisis. RISE is producing new, rigorous scholarship that bridges research and policy and catalyses education reform to improve learning outcomes for all. The Programme aims to spur a paradigm shift in the way the world thinks about how to overcome the learning crisis by demonstrating the importance of education systems coherence and alignment to learning. RISE aims to provide local, national and global actors with an analytical framework that will enable them to understand education systems; identify incoherences; undertake systemic, prioritised reform; and deliver learning for all. The Programme has research teams currently working in Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tanzania, and Vietnam. RISE is funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Devoplement Office (FCDO); Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
