Auckland Zoo is home to the largest collection of native and exotic animals in New Zealand, set in 17 hectares of lush parkland and just minutes from central Auckland. Since opening in 1922, Auckland Zoo has welcomed over 28 million visitors! A winner of national and international awards for conservation efforts, wildlife research, and innovative exhibits, today the Zoo enjoys a reputation as one of the world's most progressive zoos.

Visit Te Nukuao Wellington Zoo and fall in love with nature. Te Nukuao Wellington Zoo is home to over 500 animals, from the amazing insects and invertebrates of Hero HQ, to the only bear in New Zealand - the gorgeous Malayan Sun Bear, as well as lions, tigers, giraffes, Tasmanian Devils, and many more. We exist to connect people with the natural world. The Zoo is a place of connections, within the Zoo, off site and via technology that links our community together to make a difference for the environment. We believe in a ‘love not loss’ approach to environmental issues, that is by first having visitors and our community engage with and love animals they are more ready to understand how they can take action to protect the environment and be willing to do so. We are proud Wellingtonians, and we want Wellingtonians to be proud of their Zoo. Through employment of Wellingtonians, working with Wellington suppliers, and providing high quality visitor experiences for our community, we aim to be a vibrant part of our community, and to be a reflection of our city - contributing to the thriving cultural and natural heritage of Wellington as an accessible and liveable city.

For over 46 years, Orana Wildlife Trust (a registered charity) has operated Orana Wildlife Park, an internationally recognised zoo and Canterbury icon attraction. The Trust operates in a commercially astute manner to: provide quality recreational experiences for local people and visitors to Canterbury; conserve endangered native and exotic wildlife; educate all visitors (especially children) about environmental and conservation issues; and support research. Set in 185 hectares, Orana Wildlife Park is Aotearoa’s only open range wildlife park. We care for over 1,000 animals representing 90 different species, many of which are critically endangered. Orana is a conservation powerhouse making significant contributions to recovery programmes for Aotearoa’s threatened species (e.g. kākāriki karaka, Aotearoa’s rarest parakeet). We connect visitors with wildlife and inspire people to care about the plight of endangered species. Orana specialises in providing amazing visitor experiences, including the fantastic Lion Encounter (the only one of its type in the Southern Hemisphere), meeting NZ’s only gorillas, encountering mischievous kea, observing kiwi, hand feeding majestic giraffe, eyeballing the magnificent white rhino and much more. The Park is a key regional asset contributing to economic recovery and growth and an important facility for community well-being. As a registered charity, Orana relies on gate-takings to operate. We separately raise 100% of funds for all developments, animal transfers and involvement in key conservation programmes.
