The RIEDEL GROUP, leading crystal brands in the wine and table-top industry The family owned company Riedel Glass Works is based in Kufstein, Tirol/Austria. The company manufactures premium wine glasses and other glass products. Managing Directors of the company are Georg and Maximilian Riedel - in 10th and 11th generation. With 1.250 employees the highly profitable group obtains a worldwide turnover of € 240 Mio. With its numerous international locations, for example in Great Britain, the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, China, Riedel Glass Works is one of the leading manufacturers of glass with different kinds of grape variety shapes of wine and spirituous beverages. The largest production plants are located in Southern Germany (Bayerischer Wald, Amberg, Weiden) and Kufstein/Austria. In 2004 Georg Riedel took over the German glass company „Nachtmann“ with their subsidiary “Spiegelau”. Since this time, the brands Riedel, Nachtmann und Spiegelau have been sold under the corporate name „Riedel Glass Works“, one of the major manufacturers of high quality glasses in Europe. The philosophy of this traditional company is that the volume should dictate the form of the glass, to subordinate the design to the wine / drink with its characteristics. Wine and the wine pressing criteria will define the design of the glass. An important criterion of quality is the very thin glasses and, however, its high stability. Depending on the thickness, the temperature of the glass will influence the temperature of the wine – the thinner the glass the less influence.
