Ricerca e Cooperazione (RC), founded in Rome in 1985, is an Italian NGO (Non Governmental Organization) specializing in international cooperation in the southern hemisphere. In Europe, it promotes actions of public awareness and education for development. RC is accredited by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAAEE) since 1986 and has been implementing projects in partnership with the European Commission (EU) since 1988. RC has carried out projects in conjunction with, among others, the UNDP, IFAD, UNICEF and FAO. RC is a member of COCIS (a Federation of Italian NGOs for International Cooperation), member of the Association of Italian NGOs (AOI), part of the Euro-Mediterranean network (MEDIATE), and member of ENID (ONG network against desertification). RC operates in: Ghana, Benin and Malawi in Africa; Bolivia, Colombia and Argentina in Latin America; Morocco, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and Syria in the Mediterranean Basin. In Italy the Headquarters is based in Rome and two branch offices are established in Apulia (accredited by the Region) and Umbria. RC Intervention Areas RC implements projects based on country programmes developed with the participation of local partners and institutions. RC aims to: Act in favour and support of fundamental rights Protect and promote cultural and environmental heritage under threat of disappearing Educate civil society about disparities between North and South Our main intervention sectors are: integrated rural development and food security, income generating programmes, social and health improvement, environmental and cultural heritage protection, sustainable tourism.
