His love of firearms and the gunsmithing art dates back to his teenage years. As Ryan jokingly says "I started taking guns apart at fifteen; I started getting them back together at eighteen." After high school, Ryan enlisted in the US Navy where he served as an armorer and tactical instructor, gaining experience with many modern military style weapons. After his honorable discharge, Ryan went to work as a gunsmith's apprentice at the long standing gun shop McBride's in Austin, TX. His main job was to inspect and clean every used gun that came through the shop. This was a golden year of learning as he was able to take apart and learn about hundreds of makes, models and variations. After a year, Ryan packed up and moved to Waco to attend Texas State Technical College for machining. Excelling at both manual and computer numerical control machining, he graduated in 2006 with honors. After graduating from TSTC, Ryan moved back to his hometown of Fredericksburg, TX and opened a shop out of his garage in June of 2007. "Those were fun times but hard. Working in the Texas heat without an air conditioner or any breeze can be miserable. Consequently, it was hard to keep regular hours because I wanted to work more at night than during the day. After I got married it quickly became apparent that I needed a space of my own. People would knock on my front door any day at almost any time to have me look at their gun. My wife loved that!" Ryan started offering full custom rifle builds his second year in operation. From ARs to bolt rifles and most anything in between, he loves building individual, one of a kind guns to fit his customers' specific needs. He recently added custom 1911s and revolvers to his lineup. In 2009, Ryan was approached by Cimarron Firearms to become their main warranty station and custom gunsmith. Since then he has worked on thousands of cowboy guns from all over the country. Ryan really enjoys the amount of cowboy custom work he has been able to add over the past couple of years
