Resource Association Information

The Resource Association is a new professional advocacy body for the reprosessing and recycling industries, focused on a resource efficient materials economy that realises value, prizes quality and seeks to maintain the integrity of recyclable materials that are too commonly treated as waste. We support the development of a sustainable and healthy recycling industry as an integral part of the emerging circular economy. Our members promote the management of materials as resources not wastes, and through our collective action we are delivering value across the triple bottom line, benefiting out economy and the environment. The Resource Association’s approach places secondary material and its efficient recovery at the centre of all decision-making processes regarding resource use. We shares the vision set out by the European Commission in its ‘Roadmap to a Resource Efficient Europe’, and we encourage the UK Government to support this direction of travel. The diversity of the resource industry is a positive aspect of its rapid growth in recent years, but one consequence of this limited public and decision maker awareness of the full benefit and impact the diverse industry has in the UK and global economies. We provides a vehicle that articulates the full value of the industry to governments, opinion formers and the wider public. The Resource Association contribute regularly to policy consultations undertaken by Whitehall ministries and the governments of N. Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the European Commission, actively involving our members as well as meeting officials and ministers across the various administrations. Members of the Resource Association include businesses, councils, agencies, NGOs and community organisations that support our values.
