Resonate Information

'Resonate’ is an online news, entertainment and blogging website that provides writers with a platform to discuss topics that strongly resonate amongst East Asian communities in the West. Our writers do not need to be of East Asian descent but simply harbour an interest in writing about topics that concern the East Asian communities around the world. The representation of East Asians is unreasonably disproportionate within politics, the film industry, music industry and the media in general. For example, when East Asians are represented in the film, they are usually represented through takeaway owners or martial artists. Part of the problem is the lack of stories that are being told by the East Asian community. ‘Resonate’ aims to promote East Asian talent through the medium of written journalism and eventually film/television, photography and music. ‘Resonate’ will actively encourage positive representation in the media by making your voice heard by delivering interesting articles from your own perspectives to actively engage wider audiences. Our platform will feature a combination of regular columnists and special guest columnists from writers across the world writing about common Asian interests. ‘Resonate’ will play host to the hub of ideas to showcase the creative talents of the global East Asian community. Some of the articles that resonate with East Asian communities will also resonate with other communities, whilst some articles will solely address East Asians issues. At ‘Resonate’, we firmly believe that everyone has their own stories that have deeply affected them to the point where it was literally life changing.
