In conversations over the past year, we've heard time and time again that when people think of Student Government, they are left uninspired. This has led us to ask the question: Is the student government truly representative? Currently, we don’t think so. We launched our campaign because we believe representation should not be performative; it should be real, quantifiable change. The role of the student government is to transform student perspectives, concerns, and ideas into action. Our slate will realize this, not through broad strokes or dramatic change overnight, but rather through small, tangible action and reliance on one another as a community. This is why we established the heart of our mission, Representation, Equity, and Preparation, or REP for short. Although these may sound like buzz words, to us they mean: Reinstating student voices as the driving force behind decisions. Ensuring all students have access to the resources they need to thrive academically. Protecting students mentally, emotionally, and physically. Together, REP is about building a government that brings the pride back into being a BU student by reintroducing meaning to student leadership, employing impactful solutions against student concerns, and making your campus experience more comfortable and exciting. Your time in undergrad is meant to act as a period of self-discovery and a catalyst for the invention of your future identity. This should not be plagued by unnecessary worry about college politics failing to support you in times of need. We, as a slate, are dedicated to implementing the necessary resources and programs to ensure that your individuality as a student is recognized and honored.
