Since 1910 The Lost Dogs’ Home has been a voice for animals without owners. We’ve been pioneers for fair animal laws and continue to work at the front line to reduce the number of lost, abandoned and stray cats and dogs. The Home relies on public support to provide our Australia-wide services and programs, these include; National Pet Register, The Lost Cats’ Home, shelter operations, adoptions and responsible pet ownership education. Our expertise also extends to veterinary and animal management services. All of our functions are governed by a quality management system – an industry first in Australia. The Lost Dogs’ Home is one of the country’s largest animal welfare organisations, caring for more than 25,000 cats and dogs each year. We pride ourselves on employing qualified individuals who demonstrate a strong personal connection to animals, the community and the cause.

SAFE (Saving Animals From Euthanasia Inc) is an animal rescue & rehoming organisation, the largest in Western Australia using the foster care model - founded in 2003 by Sue Hedley OAM WHAT WE DO We help people find companionship by matching them with pets in need who suit them. Our use of animal foster care instead of shelters lets us get to know the animals' personalities. This helps us make better matches. Our animals can be transported around the state to their new homes or their SAFE foster homes. VISION Our vision is an end to the overpopulation of pets in Australia, zero euthanasia of rehomable pets and a good quality of life for all companion animals. MISSION Our mission is to save companion animals from unnecessary euthanasia by community education, fostering, desexing and placing them in suitable homes. BRANCHES The collective network is made up of the following branches: SAFE Avon Valley, SAFE Broome, SAFE Bunbury, SAFE Busselton, SAFE Carnarvon, SAFE Esperance, SAFE Goldfields, SAFE Hedland, SAFE Karratha, SAFE Metro and SAFE Newman. OUR VOLUNTEERS Our work depends on a large volunteer team of foster carers, branch coordinators, event organisers, photographers, animal profile writers, grant writers, administrators and many more. Team work is what it’s all about, with over 300 volunteers currently and more are always welcome. Some work online, carrying out vital tasks remotely from across the country. The RSPCA is an independent, community-based charity providing animal care and protection services across the country. The RSPCA federation works collaboratively to make animals’ lives better. The RSPCA’s member Societies in each state and territory run animal rehoming shelters, investigate and prosecute animal cruelty complaints, educate the community on animal welfare and responsible pet ownership, and advocate for changes in policy and practice that improve the welfare of animals. RSPCA Australia, as the federation’s national body, is a leading source of animal welfare science, and works with governments and industries to progress animal welfare across a range of issues. In addition, RSPCA Australia runs the RSPCA Approved Farming Scheme, which works with farmers and brands to improve the lives of millions of farm animals.
