L’Ordre Antonin Maronite, dans sa forme actuelle, est né en 1700 sur l’initiative de Mgr Gabriel de Blawza, alors évêque d’Alep. Sur la colline d’Aramta, Mar Chaaya (Metn – Liban), à 20 Km de Beyrouth, les premiers pères fondent une Communauté monastique nouvelle professant les conseils évangéliques et œuvrant au service des besoins de l’Église dans les réalités sociales et prennent le nom d’ANTONINS. Les statuts de l’Ordre furent ratifiés le 17 janvier 1740 par le Pape Clément XII.
