Reliance Financial Advisors was founded by Walter Grenda in 1986. We pride ourselves on: PROACTIVE versus PASSIVE STYLES ~ RFA abandoned the antiquated, passive “buy & hold” style and instead prides itself on actively managing money. For example, in 2008, when the S&P 500 was lost 36.1%, RFA had clients safely in fixed-income and bonds versus stocks due to warnings of a severe recession. TIMING THE MARKET ~ some say that an Investment Advisor should not attempt to “time the market”. But Reliance feels it is important to emphasize capital preservation regardless of a client investment objective. This said, we are of the opinion, as the World changes, chaos (political & social unrest, natural disasters, financial crises, ect.) will reign supreme. The tempo of today’s market requires prompt attention and reactions. Hence our commitment to provide clients with an ACTIVE investment management. ACTIVE INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT ~ means frequent attention to portfolio holdings, as financial and economic trends seem to shift constantly. Active management does not mean we adhere to short term trading; instead we consider ourselves long-term traders. Meaning, we have willingness to make changes in client accounts, but only when changes make sense! FEE-BASED PLATFORM ~ as of March 2011, we have elected to align ourselves with TD Ameritrade, as custodian for all client accounts. It provides us access to their advanced investing platform, while keeping client transaction costs low.
