Relativity Capital is a private equity firm seeking to acquire small and middle market companies in partnership with experienced operating executives through the completion of leveraged buyout and restructuring transactions. It prefers to invest in companies based in the U.S. with revenues between $15 million and $150 million and EBITDA between $5 million and $15 million. Industries of interest include industrial manufacturing, aerospace / defense, and services (incl. business, niche financial, niche healthcare, and government). The firm has less interest in the consumer, retail, media, technology, and real estate industries. Control investments are preferred, however, minority investments are considered in select circumstances. Relativity invests in profitable market leaders as well as underperforming businesses and has extensive experience with financial restructurings and operational turnarounds. Of particular interest are niche market leaders that are facing temporary challenges. The firm was founded by Leslie L. Armitage and Joyce Johnson-Miller in 2006. Ms. Armitage was with The Carlyle Group from 1990 through 2005, most recently as Managing Director and Partner, and Ms. Johnson-Miller was one of the first employees of Cerberus Capital Management and held the position of Managing Director for nine years. Over the past two decades, the founders have collectively directed private equity investments of over $1.2 billion and have successfully generated top tier returns.
