The Fortune Society’s mission is to support successful reentry from incarceration and promote alternatives to incarceration, thus strengthening the fabric of our communities.
We do this by:
- BELIEVING in the power of individuals to change;
- BUILDING LIVES through service programs shaped by the needs and experience of our participants; and
- CHANGING MINDS through education and advocacy to promote the creation of a fair, humane, and truly rehabilitative correctional system.
Rubicon Programs is a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to erasing poverty in the East Bay. Founded in 1973, we work at both the individual and systemic levels to increase access to economic opportunities, partnering with participants to build income, assets, wellness, and community connections. Our comprehensive workforce and reentry services are rooted in principles of racial and economic justice, driven by a commitment to dismantling racism within our practices and communities.
With a vision for an East Bay without poverty, our participant-centered services span three key areas: Workforce Services, Reentry Services, and Community-Based Programs. By empowering individuals with the tools to succeed, we help transform lives and create lasting change. Rubicon Programs is one of only five organizations in the U.S. awarded a federal grant to support parents re-entering society from the criminal justice system, ensuring they can provide financial and emotional support for their families.
At Rubicon, we connect with humility, act with hope, and live with justice as we continue to strive for a more equitable future for all.
