Sörmland Regional Council is a political regional cooperation body with mandate to promote regional development in the Sörmland region and implement regional assignments from the state. It is owned by the nine municipalities of Sörmland and the County Council and its highest governing body is the regional council with 33 members and 33 deputies. Working areas are mainly transport and infrastructure, industry and entrepreneurship, skills development and labor availability. The office with some 20 permanent employees and a number of project employees, is located in Nyköping, 100 kilometers south of Stockholm.
