RegionalOneSource Information

RegionalOneSource was founded in early 2001, with offices in Baltimore, Maryland. From its inception, the company envisioned a new approach to the management of statistical information, allowing users to: search large and complex databases without consulting variable lists or any other type of metadata; formulate precise, and well-defined questions; combine information from multiple datasets in a single report; receive answers involving hundreds or even thousands of locations in a single report, and in real time (usually less than ten seconds), and; manipulate the information in these reports in useful ways. Users do not need to possess any particular technical knowledge or abilities in order to ask a question. They are nonetheless able to formulate questions of the type that only researchers with significant technical skills could have previously asked. Our strategy for achieving this goal revolves around two primary elements: All of the information is captured in a relational database. This allows data about diverse topics to be addressed in a single search. An advanced search and reporting engine enables users to fashion reports with great simplicity and speed. This empowers users who do not have the expertise, or the time, to employ statistical analysis tools. Answers which would have taken hours or even days using such tools, can now be obtained in minutes. RegionalOneSource released its first statistical reference product in June, 2004.
