Regal Athletic is focused on player development. Regal Athletic was founded on a player first approach. We believe that our ultimate responsibility to our members (parents and players) is to help them reach their maximum potential. In other words, we want every player to be the best they can be. Being the best they can be is something all our teams aspire to. By focusing on player development rather than team building, 3 of our teams have gone from A to AAA/MAJ in two seasons. Having premier teams was never our destination but is merely another stop along the road. As we tell all our coaches, the only constant at Regal Athletic is change. Just like in our training programs, we strive to get better everyday. This program is our response to the players and teams in our program that want more. We have developed this program in conjunction with Brian McRae's KC Sluggers to identify and train elite players that aspire to be Premier Players. This program will be at the cutting edge of modern baseball training. It's sole purpose is to provide as much instruction as possible to the highly committed baseball player. Premier Baseball is the highest level of competition available to area high school players. In a typical Premier event, players will be seen by more coaches than an entire Summer of playing in "Showcase" campus tournaments. Premier Baseball is about showcasing players to college coaches, not fundraising for them. Beginning in 2014, we will offer Jr Premier teams in 9U, 10U and 13U. The goal of this program is to provide player specific training based on age and ability. We will give every player consistent teaching day after day and year after year. Consistency is what matters the most when developing young athletes. The program is designed for those who aspire to play college baseball. Our long term goal is to field one team at each age group ranging from 9 to 14. These teams will be tournament teams that compete in AAA/MAJ/Premier. The program includes but is not limited to the following:Players are graded and measured in July, October, January and April. We utilize objective measurements to verify training results. Players don't train to "look" better, you train to be better. Functional Movement Screening, this allows us to identify individual player deficiencies and allows us to prepare custom workouts to address these limitations. By addressing these limitations players can increase their ability and skill levels well beyond what traditional training provide. Video analysis is the best way to speed up the learning process. All players will have video shot while pitching and hitting. Players will train under 2 primary protocols: Ron Wolforth's TAP and Alan Jaegers Long Toss. Each of these programs has been proven to be best in class when it comes to increasing arm strength. Players will have access to performance results online. Realistic goals can only be set if you know where you started and and where you are currently. Bullpen sessions are overseen by our house instructors. Modern pitching training is nothing like "when we were kids" . The old "throw till your arm falls off" practicing of yesteryear has proven to be highly effective in one area, destroying arms. We are very serious about arm health. We do not believe it is worth risking playing in High School to win a trophy on Sunday when you're 9 or 10 years old. We follow the pitch count protocols established by USA Baseball and ASMI. All pitchers, catchers and hitters are introduced to the concept of Effective Velocity, Perry Husband's game changing study on how a batter perceives a pitched ball. While there are as many effective swings as there are players, there are a few fundamental principles of the swing that apply to everyone. We use Perry Husband's training protocols as our foundation. These training techniques allow for a hitter to increase both their contact percentage and exit velocity. In this day and age it's not enough to just put the ball in play, you need to do some damage when you hit it.
