Welcome to Woolroom, the home of better sleep through the miracle fiber of wool.
We specialise in wool bedding, mattresses, and home accessories, to
help you craft your own sleep sanctuary.
It all began when some like-minded people got together to
change the way that the world sees wool products. In 2010,
woolroom worked closely with the Campaign for Wool – of
which HRH Prince Charles is a patron – to promote the
incredible qualities of wool, and support local producers in
their trade.
We help people discover the magic of wool, and how sumptuous wool bedding can create their own perfect sanctuary.
If you have any questions about the benefits of wool bedding,
get in touch, we’d love to hear from you, or if you’d like to
discover that ideal sanctuary for yourselves, visit us in-store or
browse our collections online.
The Wool Studio prides itself on outstanding customer service. If you order between our quarterly mailings your order usually goes out in a day or two. Because we send out 850+ mailings each quarter, it does take us a little longer to process the hundreds of orders that follow a swatch mailing. These orders are shipped in the order in which they were received. If you have a "wool emergency", i.e. rug camp, vending, etc. we will do our very best to accommodate your request. Keep in mind when you received your quarterly mailer...so did 850+ other rug hookers! IMPORTANT UPDATE: While our move allowed us more spacious surroundings we are coming to realize it still takes most of our time to meet the needs of our mail-order customers . It was a pleasant thought to have customers make appointments or drop by but we are not a shop...no fancy digs, no employees to help with color-planning or check out, so we are back to square one...The Wool Studio is a mail order business. We will try to accommodate wholesale buyers or customers picking up pre-orders by appointment. Thanks for your understanding!
FeltWorks is owned and operated by Mary Ellen and Russell Chamberlain. Mary Ellen has a fine arts degree in painting, and has been a fiber artist for many years. Russell joined the company full time in 2001, and brings to FeltWorks his background in marketing and small business management. Together we are the sole designers and primary production artists at FeltWorks Studio in Athens, Ohio. We've been playing with wool, the stuff felt is made of,for some twenty years now. In the mid 90's, we began raising specialty-wool sheep on our Southeast Ohio farm. Some of the wool we spun into yarn for knitting and weaving, and some of the wool we sold through our retail yarn shop and gallery, Main Street Fibers. As our flock multiplied, we soon had more raw wool than we knew what to do with. To put a barn full of excess wool to good use, Mary Ellen began experimenting with feltmaking,a great way to use lots of raw wool, and a new fiber passion was born. Selling our work locally at first, we spent the next few years developing techniques and refining designs based on customer feedback. In 1999, we sold Main Street Fibers so that we could devote ourselves fully to studio production. Our company is now in its fourth year, and our FeltWorks line of products is available in fine craft galleries across the country.
