Reebirth Information

calmbirth® is the name given to a childbirth preparation program developed by midwife Peter Jackson to specifically assist pregnant women & their birth companions to create a calm, joyful, ecstatic birth experience. The program has the potential to dismantle the fear, stress & anxiety experienced by many women during pregnancy & birth. The calmbirth® philosophy is based on the belief that pregnancy, labour & birth are normal life events & is a natural process. The overall goal of the calmbirth® classes is to help you relinquish your fears about labour & birth. This will enable you to facilitate the birth of your baby naturally, calmly, confidently & joyfully. By learning how to utilize your inner resources in a constructive way & practicing these skills taught during the classes, old belief patterns will be replaced with useful practical techniques to assist during pregnancy, labour, birth & early parenthood. People leave the classes with a greater understanding of the birth process, a greater confidence in their own ability to work with the birth process & excitement about their approaching birth. The knowledge & skills the program teaches prepares the mum to remain relaxed & focused during labour, to make informed choices, if & when required & to be in tune with the natural energy & rhythm of the babys birth. The role of the father or birth companion is recognized as vitally important & empowers the couple to take control of their own birthing experience. This is achieved by combining theory & skills to help establish the bond between the couple & their baby. An environment is created during the classes where personal healing can take place, eliminating the fear & anxiety associated with labour & birth. Relaxation, breathing & visualization are the inner resources, which we naturally possess, & couples learn simple techniques to ensure these resources are effective.
