ReavillMED is a new very low cost catheter that converts the peripheral IV into a 6” midline or extended dwell peripheral depending on how the peripheral IV was placed (Sterile or non sterile). Just luer add to your placed peripheral IV and flush to extend its length. It’s purpose is to protect the vein entered from vescacant medications such as vasopressors that are required in Emergency Medicine by protocol bundles such as the sepsis bundle. When placed by Emergency Medicine in non sterile conditions it’s dwell is 48-72 hours. If placed by vascular access teams under sterile conditions the device goes >30 days. At a cost of only $5 to protect the initial IV from infiltration, this low cost safety device is a must have for all Emergency Departments. Reimbursed as CPT 36410.
