Like most businesses of its' kind, Reading Habit (formerly Ambire Second Hand Books) was born out of a love of books and a desire to share the joy of reading. In early 2001, Amber Cross (below) and Ireene Couzens (niece and aunty) kicked off a long talked about hobby of buying and selling second hand books. Humble beginnings in a tiny suburban one-car garage slowly grew into a small family business operated out of a two-storey ten-car garage. And thus Reading Habit was born in late 2003. Now, with more than 40,000 fiction and non-fiction titles in stock, Reading Habit is one of the largest pre-loved bookstores in the Lake Macquarie region of NSW. Our mission has always been to provide quality second hand books at affordable prices. We know that you read a lot and that this healthy addiction can often hurt the hip pocket. For this reason, we have opted for no shopfront and only sell online, via mail order and at local markets. This keeps our overheads low so that we can deliver you better prices.
