RDL Engineering Information

Provide both electrical and physical design for projects such as: bus additions/upgrades, relay upgrades, breaker additions/upgrades, transformer additions/replacements, new equipment installations, substation expansion, and new substations. Oversee preparation of review drawing sets and final construction drawing sets. Oversee project close-out and as-built revisions. Confer with client, utility personnel, manufacturers' representatives and others as required when carrying out the above work. Stay informed of latest developments in the electric utility field relating to substation design & construction. Serve as principal lead engineer on most projects. Perform construction site visits to inspect work in progress or completed, and attend project meetings as required by client. Work with project team to create all design documents and drawings required for a project, including applying field mark-ups of project as-built drawings. Review project schedules and work with project managers to insure projects remain on schedule and within budget. Perform preliminary designs and budgetary estimates along with detailed designs and estimates. Prepare equipment specifications, construction specifications, material lists, proposal evaluations and requisitioning of equipment. Perform engineering calculations to assure safety and performance of equipment and systems. Coordinate equipment delivery, engineering, and work with other disciplines and/or offices to ensure projects stay on schedule. Gather or acquire on-site measurements and other data to accomplish the design or enable the evaluation of equipment performance. Check completed job for adequacy of design and documentation.
