The metro is one of the fastest means of transport in Bucharest, proved to be a sustainable solution, environmental friendly and of major importance for the urban area. For over 42 years, Metrorex has been the sole company managing the metro system in Bucharest and it has in its portfolio major projects involving transportation of billions of passengers in good conditions. Metrorex is currently undergoing a continous modernization and development process to adapt to the market’s demands.

Collective Transport Company from Bucharest Starting September 14th RATB became STB SA. It operates a complex network of buses, trams and trolleybuses – in fact, all public transport except the Bucharest Metro, which is managed by Metrorex. While owned entirely by the City Council, RATB is an autonomous company. The RATB transport services use a partially separate ticketing system to the Bucharest Metro (combined passes can be bought, but single tickets not).
