Rapid Equipping Force Information

The United States Army Rapid Equipping Force rapidly provides urgent capabilities to U.S. Army forces employed globally by harnessing current and emerging technologies in order to improve operational effectiveness. The REF is a capability provider, empowered to act urgently on behalf of the Army G-3 to provide Soldiers and commanders “game-changing” capabilities that increase lethality, improve force protection and enhance their survivability against highly adaptive enemies. The Rapid Equipping Force provides these capabilites by identifying, developing, and delivering acceptable commercial and government "off-the-shelf"​ equipping solutions in limited quantities and scope directly to the Warfighter. The Rapid Equipping Force accomplishes its mission by leveraging government organizations, commercial industry and small businesses to attain access to leading-edge technology and to acquire affordable products to equip the warfighter rapidly. The Rapid Equipping Force is a cohesive element that embeds Requirements, Technology, Acquisition, Budget and Logistics capabilities in a single organization. This unique structure allows REF to rapidly validate requirements, acquire solutions, make the warfighter part of the “Acquisition Cycle,” comply with all existing acquisition statues, and document a streamlined acquisition methodology within oversight of the Army Acquisition Executive.
