MBN is the parent company of Alhurra Television and Radio Sawa. MBN is financed by the U.S. Government through a grant from the BBG, an independent federal agency charged with overseeing all U.S. civilian international broadcasting. As a condition of its bylaws, MBN's board is comprised all members of the BBG including Governors Victor Ashe, Michael Lynton, Susan McCue, Michael Meehan, Dennis Mulhaupt, Dana Perino and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

De STVS (Surinaamse Televisie Stichting) is het eerste televisie station in Suriname; opgericht in 1965 door toenmalige premier Johan Adolf Pengel. De STVS is sindsdien gehuisvest in Paramaribo, Suriname SA.
