Rānui Generation Information

RānuiGen was established to develop, build and operate a portfolio of mid-size solar projects in New Zealand. The country urgently needs new generating capacity to meet growing electricity demand; it has a good solar resource but solar supplies only 1-2% of grid power. We believe solar is the best way to decarbonise the New Zealand energy system quickly. Working closely with our shareholder, we aim to fast-track the construction of four solar projects with total capacity 162 MWp. Our first 31 MWp project, on a 100 year leasehold site in Kaitaia in the Far North, is now operating. The next two projects, both on freehold sites in Taranaki, are scheduled to commence construction in 2026. Consent was granted by the Overseas Investment Office for all of these land interests in 2023. RānuiGen is proud to be the manager of the AIP-approved Rānui Sunshine Fund, a New Zealand managed investment fund that will offer Active Investor Plus and wholesale investors the opportunity to invest directly in the Rānui portfolio. As a solar project developer, RānuiGen is committed to early and continuous engagement with local communities and respecting the relationship and ancestral connection tangata whenua (people of the land) have with the whenua (land).
