We are long term locals and love sharing our beautiful environment with our guests and employ a great team who are committed to providing great service. Kerri manages the accommodation and is eager to provide guests with a memorable stay and a great Fiordland experience. In 2013, Radfords won the AA Tourism Supreme Host of the Year Award and in 2015 AWS Fiordland Operator of the Year Award, 2016 Finalists for Hospitality NZ Excellence in Customer Service and Accommodation Host of the Year. Steve runs the farm in conjuction with his agricultural contracting business. He has been involved in the farming sector all his life. The farm is located seven km from Te Anau; it has a mix of 3,000 stock units comprising of sheep, deer and cattle running on 273 hectares. Tours of our farm are available by prior arrangement. We are passionate about our environment "Kaitiakitanga" and are involved with local conservation projects through the Fiordland Conservation Trust we are also silver sponsors of the Fiordland Trails Trust and all proceeds from DVD hire is donated back to the Te Anau Bird Sanctuary. We are lucky to live in the most spectacular place on earth (in our opinion) and we never take this for granted we are committed to preserving what we are lucky to have surrounding us we are proactive with recycling this includes anything updated in the complex is sold on via a garage sale site in our community or donated to the local church's second hand "Grace Place", we buy locally where possible and also in bulk to reduce packaging and freight, we compost and have a worm farm where our kitchen scraps go, we have re-lined all of our units with polystyrene to reserve the heat reducing the resources we consume, there are bikes available for guests to use whilst staying to reduce the usage of motor vehicles, 99% chemical free! we use colour coded microfiber clothes for each different cleaning purpose along with natural products reducing our footprint on the environment. In Maori culture, Manaakitanga is a traditional value that is central to society and inspires the way that travellers are made to feel welcome. As "born and breed" Southland locals, Kerri and Steve are extremely proud to host our guests in the beautiful Fiordland. Lake Te Anau is arguably the district's most popular lake destination. The name in full is Te Ana-au and refers to a Cave with a strong current running through it. Legend has it that the name is from the Cave system across the Lake from the township. The Caves were re-discovered in 1948 and are now a very popular tourist activity including Puratoke (Glow-worms). Te Anau has a history dating back 800years when the Maori explored the region. Since then, Mining, Sealing, Fishing and Tourism have brought people to this spectacular part of the world. Tourism is the most important commercial operation in Fiordland today. With every visitor exploring the area in their own way, they now contribute to the new history of the area. Picture
