Quorate Technology Limited ("Quorate"), a specialist in automatic speech recognition technology, has secured the support from Scottish Enterprise in the form of SMART:Scotland grant funding. Quorate is commercialising a state-of-the-art speech recognition and meeting analysis system that has been in development at The University of Edinburgh as part of the pan-European research project Augmented Multi-party Interaction (http://www.amiproject.org). With the benefit of its SMART:Scotland grant funding, Quorate will seek to overcome a number of technical challenges associated with commercialising an innovative and complex research-based system. Quorate's CTO Dr Mike Lincoln commented: "Quorate seeks to change the way in which meetings and conversations are able to be captured, analysed and reviewed. The AMI research project achieved its stated objective to dramatically advance business productivity, by way of individual and group activities between and during meetings. With the support of Scottish Enterprise, Quorate now aims to bring these highly innovative new technologies out of the scientific and academic domains and into 'real' world of business." Quorate's grant funding support will be spread over a period of 12 months as the company seeks to overcome a number of technical and commercial challenges in successfully bringing a new product to market.
