Founded in 1973, Esporão is today one of Portugal's most important wine and olive oil producers, while also making Sovina craft beer and offering a wide range of tourism experiences. It all began in the Alentejo region at Herdade do Esporão, where emblematic wines such as Esporão Reserva and Monte Velho are produced, as are extra virgin olive oils. In the Douro Valley, it is based at Quinta dos Murças, and in Vinho Verde it operates at Quinta do Ameal.
Esporão is dedicated to pursuing organic agriculture and enhancing sustainability while building close relationships with customers and consumers in more than 50 countries around the world.
In all three regions, Alentejo, Douro and Vinho Verde, Esporão welcomes guests, introducing them to its products with special activities, and, in the case of Herdade de Esporão, at its own restaurant, awarded both a Michelin Star and a Michelin Green Star.
We’re a family farm and family is at the heart of our business. This is the land our seven boys call their home. Where they took their first steps, disappeared in the woods, built their dens, picked grapes and learnt the ropes of winemaking. Where they had childhood and teenage adventures and experienced freedom, such a privilege. We are fortunate to spend our days working together, surrounded by a team of caring individuals who share our vision of bringing more beauty and light into the world.
ORGANIC MATTERS
The humming sound of bumble bees and insects affirm the healthy environment in which our wines are made. Over the years organic growing practices and integrated sustainability have been part of every decision we make – lowering our crop yield but visibly increasing the quality together with an abundant flora of wildflowers, herbs and grasses.
NATURAL CHARACTERISTICS
Our philosophy on winemaking is of minimum intervention, allowing the natural characteristics of our terroir to shine through in the wines. The winery is one of the oldest buildings on the Quinta. We have adapted the ancient cellars to meet modern winemaking methods, going to great lengths to preserve its historical beauty. As a result our work in the winery is very hands-on and apart from our fork-lift and conveyor belt, most of the lifting, measuring, testing, monitoring and cleaning is done manually. It ensures the highest degree of attention to detail as well as a personal, human touch
Our location is perfect for hiking, mountain biking and surfing. Our guests can meditate in the garden, swim in the pool, book the sauna, enjoy massages and partake in yoga classes.

ENG
The guest house is set in the middle of a vast garden with a swimming pool and enchanting view to the mountain and the palaces. We are on a slope that before us was a vineyard. For years, prize winning wines were produced on these grounds. After years of abandonment, the grounds are kept again, and though we do not produce wines, our orchard gives us lots of fruit almost all year around, and something is always in bloom. From Casa do Valle, it is only 400 meters to the Old Town Center, away from the hassle of the bustling tourist crowds. The monuments and museums, restaurants and shopping as well as the train line to Lisbon are within a walking distance.
There are 11 double rooms: 7 standard rooms on the upper part of the property in three levels and the 4 superior rooms in the lower end of the property.
