PushBlack Information

PushBlack is the nation's first mobile-based black organizing group. The PushBlack family represents a group of black and brown folks who got tired of looking everywhere for news that spoke to our unique experience. We got tired of only seeing the worst of the world in the news. We wanted something more grounded in the history of our people. So we started PushBlack to bridge the gap between black history and what we experience today. Through text message, email, and social media, PushBlack keeps its subscribers informed about black history and how it's related to current events. Over the past six months, our message has really resonated with people. When we started out, we were sending text messages and emails about black news to a couple hundred friends. Now, we're talking to 200,000 people in the PushBlack family about lessons learned from our ancestors and how we can use those lessons to fight for our liberation today. Beyond sending stories via text, we also fight for black lives in partnership with local organizing groups. We aren't the first generation to navigate the beautiful struggle, and we likely won't be the last. PushBlack reaches back to the groundwork laid by our foremothers and forefathers to provide our folks with inspiration and insight.
