Pumpkinseed Bio is The Biology Mining Company. Proteins execute nearly every function in living biology — every drug, every disease, every threat. Yet the tools to read them directly have never existed. Mass spectrometry depends on reference databases. Affinity methods measure what you already know to look for. The proteome — biology's most information-rich layer — has remained largely inaccessible. deSIPHR changes that. Pumpkinseed's proprietary nanophotonic chip platform sequences proteins de novo, one amino acid at a time, at single-molecule resolution. No reference catalog. No fragmentation. No elaborate sample preparation. With over 100 billion sensors per wafer, fabricated at semiconductor scale, deSIPHR generates more biological information per cell per dollar than any existing proteomics platform — and that cost per data point drops as the platform scales. This is not a sensitivity improvement on existing proteomics tools. It is a category shift — from confirmation to discovery, from sampling to mining. Active partnerships with Genentech's Discovery Proteomics group, DARPA, and BARDA validate the platform across biopharma, biosecurity, and biological AI. In May 2026, Pumpkinseed closed a $20M Series A co-led by NfX and Future Ventures. Founded out of Stanford by Prof. Jen Dionne, Dr. Jack Hu, and Dr. Nhat Vu — a convergence of nanophotonics, biochemistry, and machine learning — Pumpkinseed is headquartered in Palo Alto, CA.
