At Design Workshop, we shape places for future generations to thrive. Our team of over 160 employee-owners is committed to delivering demonstrable impact for the communities we serve. Through collaboration, research, creativity, and innovation, we help craft places of both real beauty and deep impact—stewarding meaningful engagement with spaces that shape futures. DW Legacy Design® is the defining element of our practice. It represents a commitment to rigorous standards of design inquiry that uncovers the right solution, not just the available one, for our clients, communities, and the environment. By assessing the possibilities of every project through four interconnected lenses: Environment, Community, Economics, and Art, we build a holistic framework for creating spaces that are resilient, meaningful, and enduring.

Since 1992, Public Allies has helped thousands of underrepresented emerging leaders serve our country, get on successful pathways to higher education and careers, and bring communities together to work for the common good. Along with our Custom Leadership Labs and Civic Action Projects, we operate our signature AmeriCorps program nationwide. We also advocate and invest in our alumni network numbering in the thousands, and are a catalyst for collaboration among our several hundred nonprofit partners. Public Allies' mission is to create a just and equitable society and the diverse leadership to sustain it. We are grounded in the conviction that everyone leads — that everyone can make a difference and work to inspire more citizens to believe in themselves, step up, and act. World Studios (previously Design for America) is Northwestern's student-run, human-centered design network. Re-founded in 2026, our mission is to build a nationwide community of impact through education, practice, and design innovation. We're a collection of thinkers, makers, tinkerers, and doers from a wide range of disciplines, working across 30+ university studios nationwide, united by a shared belief that design can create meaningful social change.
